FIRST WEEK OF THE EIGHT WEEK SPACE ECO LITERCAY  STARTED.

Is Space Research in India really worth it, investing ? What will happen to the Space Debris? Are the reusable Launch Vehicles a reality ? Chandrayaan-I What are its benefits to India ? Can Moon be Colonized if, Yes after how many years,  here after.? Why life has not evolved on moon like Earth ? Are we in par with the other developed countries in Space Research? What was the scientific equipment used for identifying Water on Moon ? How are the signals received when the satellite is not in the visibility range ?  

The First Week Program of Space Eco Literacy Campaign got going  today at the Dept of Studies in Physics, University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Mysore with these common and intelligent questions by Students & Citizens.

Prof K Chidananda  Gowda, Former Vice Chancellor, Kuvempu University & HoD Dept of Computer Science SJCE and earlier himself a Scientist at NASA for two years emphasized that self reliance in Space has many advantages & it is worth a research. Prof P Venkataramaiah, also Former Vice Chancellor Kuvempu University & Chairman, DoS in Physics University of Mysore opined that every technological  advancement  in Space has helped all  technological application in modern life. Prof S N Prasad, Formerly Principal, and Professor, Physics at  RIE NCERT, Mysore opined that to have a firsthand possession  of advanced technology is always crucial and we can never ignore any space research. Prof V Jagannatha, Scientist/Engineer, ISRO and coordinator of SELC expressed that Scientific Research is necessary so as to take the country with the galloping Science & Technology advancements and Human Development . He briefed about the programme and said all efforts are made to meet the seriously interested students & citizen to learn more at Mysore in  8 weeks on every Sunday. He also made a brief presentation on Space age and its history.

Earlier, a DECU-ISRO film on  CHANDRAYAAN–I was screened after which questions and observations were taken up by the four Professor panel. 37 students including 10 citizen participated in the program today. There were 5 students from Hinakal Village, Mysore  Those students who had completed the assignments  were given ISRO publications for study and feedbacks by next Sunday.. Students who are seriously interested to take up Space Sciences and related areas for career are being provided an opportunity at SELC 2011.Shri Nagendra, Computer Administrator, Prof Chandrasekhar, DoS in Physics, UoM  provided the logistics support.  Laksh Kumar welcomed and Malvika Anand Kusunir proposed a vote of thanks.
